Be Still & Know

I just want to share a few thoughts from a verse that I’ve been meditating on.

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the heathens; I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10

Being “still” means to cease striving. God is saying, “Stop fretting. Stop being anxious. Calm down. Relax.”

In the Bible, the word “know” is often associated with intimacy. Intimacy requires a personal contact or personal encounter.

So, in the first part of this verse, God says, “Stop fretting. Calm down. Relax,” and then tells us, “Experience Me personally/intimately.”

Why?

Why can our anxieties be calmed and why does God want us to experience Him intimately? Because in the second part of the verse, God says, “I will be exalted among the heathens; I will be exalted in the earth.” Because God is in control! Because God is more powerful than sinful humans, He is more powerful than suffering, and He is more powerful than anything. Sin and suffering will not continue forever. Rather, God and righteousness will overpower it, and He will be exalted.

Let us stop fretting, look to God, experience Him and His power in a personal way, and watch Him be magnified above all.

I know some of my recent posts have been void of images. Sometimes it is just too draining for me to find suitable photos to go with my posts.
